Involved detailing all aspects related to transfer; creation of timing plans, stock of parts / finished product prior to transfer; problem solving, liaison with all other associated departments in transfer; organising operator training, co-ordinating and documenting meetings; customer liaison, packing & shipping line, ensuring all services at UK site installed, FMEA updates) and dealing with general day-to-day production concerns from the UK factory. Co-ordinated dimensional measurement and material / functional testing for products in order to comply with customer / PPAP requirements. 6 Sigma techniques employed. Frequent trips to Germany & liaison with Volvo Engineering were essential.

New Product Quality Engineer: General Motors

Moved to this position which involved the charting of procedures and quality concerns for GM. Worked in a high-pressure environment, with constant deadlines for the delivery of new product designs. Project management skills required, in addition to co-ordinating activities between Sales, Purchasing, Assembly, Manufacturing, Logistics, Testing Services and Design departments. Regular communication between GM personnel and American office required.

Trained as an internal auditor to conduct and record findings, in order to maintain QS9000 requirements. Attention to detail and Customer specific requirements a must.

Assembly Quality Engineer

Dealing with internal and customer quality concerns for MM. Large portion of the time spent engineering solutions to meet specific requirements of customers (Toyota, Honda, Rover, Ford, Renault, Nissan, Peugeot, Rolls Royce). Other aspects of post involved setting of quality standards, control and logging of ISIR’s for components used in manufacture of headlamps; generating feedback in correct format for suppliers and customers - aided by SPC, FMEA, 8D, quality circles; creation of visual aids where appropriate; organizing working parties when quality concerns arose at customer. For approx. 6mth. responsible for team of 12 inspectors, covering 3-shifts in Assembly and Manufacturing. Also assessment and aiding implementation of suggestions.

Working in a team of six engineers to develop, train and implement Japanese ‘JIT’ Lean Production philosophy throughout the company. Involvement in developing standard working instructions, 5S training and auditing, Heijunka board to level production flow, Kanban cards, quick-changeover methods, implementation of Kaizen suggestions, work-balancing and batch building.

Responsible for setting up a cell to manufacture friction welded aluminium prop-shafts, dealing with suppliers to acquire equipment necessary for cell, and creation of CapEx justifications. Use of SIM to verify cell layout and operator balance. Feedback of 0km ppm data to Volvo on monthly basis. Co-ordinating monthly AQP meetings with suppliers and customers to ensure project targets were met and customer concerns were addressed. Also chaired weekly quality circle meetings with operators, and suppliers where necessary.
