Maintenance Consultant                                 

12 month contract for Sandvik Hard Materials, Coventry. Implement ‘best practice’ change and improvements, including the set up of a CMMS, (Movex).

  • Report on current state of maintenance function
  • Implement 5S in readiness to begin TPM.    
  • Alter maintenance working from 100% reactive maintenance to 50-50 reactive and proactive.
  • Collection of downtime data to steer proactive maintenance focus and improve equipment effectiveness.
  • Continuous improvements (e.g. instrumentation proof testing).
  • Initiate and steer machine criticality study.
  • Initiate and steer critical spares requirements.
  • Set up, train end users and roll out CMMS.
  • Study existing PM schedules and advise on improvements.
  • Begin training requirement review. (introduce maintenance PDR’s and training matrix)

My role was to assist install a new press facility within a brand new factory {Castle Bromwich), set up and run a maintenance department (including a maintenance management system, stores, personnel) and to give hands on technical support, mentoring and training to this and the Coventry site. Directly responsible for 7 maintenance technicians. Also responsible for site Health & Safety, BS 14001 Environmental issues, and site facilities.

  • Schuler fully automated hydraulic press line. 2500T lead press with 800T cushion 4 x 2000T follow on presses. 6m x 2.5m bed size. Schuler de-stacker and inter-press automation. Kuku load and unload robots. Camera positioning and removable wash and re-oilier. Siemens S7 control incorporating Profibus. Indramat drives and Pilz safety plc.
  • Technical support for maintenance team.

Control Engineer.

                       

My duties were to assist in the installation of a new ‘state of the art’, fully automated double-glazed unit facility. When completed my role involved hands on technical support and supervision of maintenance personnel at all Coventry sites, although I also provided hands on and telephone support to other Solaglas’ sites throughout the UK. My role also involved line improvements, small projects’ planning and stock control, as well as being the Solaglas UK/Lisec co-ordinator (our main machine manufacturers in Austria). Other duties included setting up the preventative maintenance, TPM, 5S and the CMMS, also deputising for the Maintenance Manager in his absence. Directly responsible for 5 maintenance personnel.

Maintenance Electrician

          

My main duties were to diagnose and rectify faults on a wide range of machine tools. These included CNC, PLC, Robots and conventional relay logic controls. Other duties involve carrying out routine and preventative maintenance tasks                 

as well as assisting with machinery and plant refurbishment/installation.

My main duties were to carry out all electrical and mechanical repairs and maintenance to a high speed canning and packaging line. Other duties involved preventative maintenance and the planning and carrying out of line modifications.
